WP4 MICROWAVE-ASSISTED PRESSURIZED EXPANSION PROCESS - MW cavity and process design
will focus on developing a microwave-assisted expansion process of the biopolymer by optimizing operational parameters such as temperature, heating and pressure profiles, field distribution, etc. These activities will result in the development of:

• an efficient design of the microwave cavity with controlled dielectric heating profiles,
• a pilot scale expansion system prototype capable of controlled pressure variation thus enabling to validate the performance of the process and to optimise the design before the process integration targeted within Work Package 6.
